Movement. It characterizes every Dan D' Agostino. In the way of thinking, in the naming of the models and in sound. Continuous, inexhaustible energy and power, rich of tonal color. From Progression and Momentum MxV to the Relentless Epic, Dan D' Agostino Master Audio Systems puts a rare combination of massiveness and refinement in every note. And development never stands still, because after seeing the prototype during High End Munich 2024, we can now proudly introduce you to Dan's latest creation – the Pendulum Integrated Amplifier.

Where a Pendulum in physics stands for a mass suspended from a rod, which remains in constant motion by gravity after being moved, the Pendulum for Dan D'Agostino symbolizes the most compact amplifier model to date. Although the official honor of the Pendulum goes to discoverer Galileo Galilei followed by Christiaan Huygens (the more expensive branch of the family…) who applied the principle as a pendulum clock, the timing and flow of the Pendulum are also superb. Compact and relatively subtle in terms of style – by Dan D'Agostino standards – but armed up to the heatsink with the amplifier technology that makes Dan's powerful sound character so unique.

The Pendulum houses its power in a finely lined aluminum chassis with a standard 43cm width, 11.8cm height and 36cm depth. Quite compact. Its construction is modular. The basic model is a pure linear integrated amplifier with a custom 750VA toroidal transformer that just fits in the beautiful housing. Together with the thick buffer capacity and specially selected output transistors, the Pendulum delivers 120 watts at 8 ohms, doubling to 240 watts at a 4 ohm load. It forms the foundation for the unprecedentedly rich soundstage and the deeply detailed bass reproduction combined with color and grandeur that we appreciate Dan for. However, the greatest strength of the Pendulum lies mainly in its front end. The extremely important JFET input stage is directly derived from the Momentum C2 preamplifier. Together with the optimized power supply, the input stage ideally couples the source signal to the output stage. This combination gives the Pendulum an extreme openness and detailing while the sound remains rich and saturated that resembles Dan's Momentum series. Of course it does not have the weight or impact of a Progression or Momentum but the resolution and refinement is truly breathtaking.

Thanks to the modular construction you can upgrade the purely analogue Pendulum, which is basically equipped with three balanced inputs, immediately or later with DAC/Streamer and/or MC Phonostage.

The DAC is much more than a DAC, the RJ45 and WiFi connection give your Pendulum access to a variety of music streaming including TIDAL Connect and with its HDMI eARC input you can easily connect sound from your TV. The fact that the DAC is then directly connected to the input stage keeps signal paths ultra short and gives a sound quality and simplicity that is unachievable with a separate DAC in the same price range.

DAN is known for voluminous designs in which solid milled heat sinks and the mix of copper and aluminum visually shape the internal power. Although the Pendulum with beautiful milling and copper accents is clearly a DAN, it is at the same time somewhat more modest and sleeker in style. The input selection and volume buttons have a refined copper inlay and the solid aluminum front is also typical DAN. Completely new for the Pendulum, however, is the LCD display on the front that replaces the traditional green mechanical meter. In addition, it provides much more information and also communicates beautifully with the BlueTooth Remote, which is also equipped with an LCD display. Cool and functional at the same time. It is typical of the position in which DAN places the Pendulum; Ultra High End with an elegant design for everyone who wants the very best without having to sacrifice a gigantic space for it. The Pendulum swings with a wonderful rhythm and flowing movement, but is absolutely not averse to a bit of Dirty Dancing. What a beauty!
