After the recently introduced HRS EXR Audio Stand system, we can now announce a 2nd variant of this fantastic audio stand system. The EXRDW. DW stands for Double Wide, 42” or just over 106cm wide, all while retaining the unique properties of the standard EXR position. As a result, the highly stable EXRDW offers enormous space to place audio components next to each other at a purchase price that is lower than two separate EXR stands. For example, an EXRDW-1942 stand with two levels, which can accommodate at least four full-size components, has a suggested retail price of € 9.299. As a comparison two separate EXR-1921 racks with a comparable capacity, on the other hand, come to a total of € 10.898.

More than a piece of audio furniture

Granted – it’s still far from a bargain. However, HRS Audio Stands are much more than a beautiful piece of audio furniture. They provide the audio components with an ultra-stable standpoint while minimizing the intrusion of mechanical vibration. A much underestimated interference factor in high-quality music reproduction. You can best compare the effectiveness of an HRS Audio Stand with an optimized mains AC filter for the supply voltage. In fact, it blocks mechanical vibrations that can obscure fine nuances and tranquility in the sound image. Of course HRS is not the only manufacturer of Audio Stands. Far from it. However, it is one of the few where the suppression of those vibrations is the most important starting point of the design. Compare the stability, stiffness and weight of an HRS Stand with any other design and you’ll understand what we mean. Like a successful knuckle test on a speaker cabinet, the HRS Audio Stand is – apart from you own internal ‘ouch’ – completely silent. No indicator of quality, but it is clear that vibrations have little chance.

Stifer than stif

Just like its single-width brother, the HRS EXRDW owes this stiffness to the E1X Isolation Bases that serve as the basis of the furniture. Two composite resin panels with an extremely high mass, pressed to the specification of HRS, are linked together by means of a special polymer. That proven HRS combination is extremely effective at eliminating vibrations and completely frees the bases from its own resonance. Each level is in turn isolated from the vertical stands or legs by means of four and, in the case of the EXRDW, even five HRS Brackets. These Brackets are coupled to the Base via an isolator specially developed by HRS for the EXR Stands to block the path of any vibration through the stands.

The Brackets thus form the transition from Isolation Base – the platform for the equipment – to the vertical stands. Here, too, HRS opts for a special approach: the stands at the corners are not parallel, but rather asymmetrically positioned. According to HRS, this ensures about 40% higher stiffness and enormous stability of the furniture. The large variation in lengths of the stands make the furniture suitable for any audio combination, while the easily adjustable solid points couple the whole solidly to the floor with a minimal contact surface.

Modular

The great thing about the EXR Stands is the modular construction and the option to upgrade later. For example, start with two levels and later expand to more or upgrade to the SXR Stand system while retaining the original EXR parts. In any case, HRS is absolutely unique in the degree of passion and expertise in the field of audio component isolation. In addition, owner and chief designer Mike Latvis can rely on his enormous history in the design and development of insulation products for commercial aircraft, military aircraft and missile defense systems, among others.

Key points of the HRS EXR and EXRDW Audio Stands

• Asymmetric design of the stands increases rigidity and stability
• Complete audio stand system consisting of vertical Stands, Brackets and Isolation Base
• Low profile height due to 38mm thick Isolation Bases minimizes the overall height
• Easy to expand to more levels
• Easy to upgrade to SXR model for even better performance
• Available in black and silver finish (silver bases are black on sides and back)
• Custom width sizes are available in 24cm (9.5”), 38cm (15”), 48.3cm (19”), 53.3cm (21”), 58.4cm (23”) and 63.5cm (25”) ) and any desired depth
• Standard Isolation Base (plateau) sizes are 53.3cm wide x 48.3cm deep (EXR-1921), 48.3cm wide x 43.2cm deep (EXR-1719) on the single-width EXR models and 106.7cm wide and 48.3cm deep on the Double Wide EXRDW 1942 models.
• Custom sizes for the EXRDW up to a maximum depth of 58.4 cm (EXRDW-2342) possible.
• Standard spacing heights for the audio components are 15.2cm (6”), 20.3cm (8”), 25.4cm (10”) and 30.5cm (12”). Heights of 35.5cm (14”), 40.6cm (16”) and 45.7cm (18”) are available at extra cost.
