Granted. The weather is not really inviting today, but assuming that the record number of sunshine hours in 2022 will not remain an exception, it is becoming increasingly interesting to enjoy a good piece of music outside. It goes without saying that an outdoor loudspeaker must be able to withstand all elements, but above all it must also sound good. Today we therefore introducing JBL’s answer to the increasing demand for compact, high-quality and sleek-looking loudspeakers that feel perfectly at home both indoors and outdoors. The JBL Stage XD series IP67 certified loudspeakers.
Anyone who visited our Experience Center during the JBL demodays in September has already been able to get acquainted with the prototypes, but now they are finally available from stock. The JBL Stage XD-5 and JBL Stage XD-6. Two loudspeaker models that fit perfectly into Custom Install projects or as a simple On-Wall solution in a living room situation. Inside or outside. In the living room or pool. Literally even because with its IP67 certification you can swim a few lengths without the XD’s getting upset. Submerged to a maximum depth of 1 meter, the Stage XD can hold its breath for 30 minutes and then happily continue singing. This guarantees it for the most extreme climate changes and is therefore an ideal partner for outdoor use. In the unlikely event that something breaks, it can also be repaired.
Where the Stage XD series really excels in our opinion is its sound. The HDI Waveguide around the 25mm Aluminum Dome tweeter is super fresh but not sharp and, together with the Polycellulose woofer, creates a wide and very energetic sound stage. The Stage XD-5 is the most compact of the two and features a 130mm (5.25”) driver for the mid and low tones. In the larger Stage XD-6, these are accounted for by a 160mm (6.5”) driver that naturally has just a bit more body. The efficiency is relatively friendly, so you can make a lot of music even with a smaller amplifier.
The speakers look modest but sleek and can be mounted very flexible with the supplied wall bracket. Available in white and black, we can also imagine the Stage XD models in a restaurant or bar, on the terrace or just in the house. They are certainly much more than outdoor speakers, given their fine, dynamic sound character. The luxury packaging is therefore aimed at both the specialized Custom Installer and the Hifi Shop.
